Antonio Brown signing odds: Will Ravens or Seahawks take the risk on star receiver?

NFL teams apparently can't help themselves when it comes to Antonio Brown. Baltimore and Seattle both reportedly are considering signing the former All-Pro.

It has been a few weeks since there was any news about Antonio Brown possibly returning to the NFL this season, so we were overdue for something. On Tuesday, the NFL Network's Mike Silver reported that both the Seattle Seahawks and Baltimore Ravens have "had internal discussions" about signing the talented but troubled former All-Pro receiver who wore out his welcome in Pittsburgh, Oakland and New England.

Both those teams make some sense as a landing spot for Brown because they are led by very strong-willed head coaches who have 100 percent job security as former Super Bowl winners. Were Brown to be added to the roster and embarrass either Pete Carroll or John Harbaugh, they could just release Brown and it wouldn't affect their reputations or job futures.

In addition, Seattle and Baltimore both have legitimate Super Bowl aspirations, especially the Ravens. They are +650 second-favorites on the moneyline odds at William Hill sportsbook to win Super Bowl 55 in Tampa, while Seattle is +1800.

From a roster standpoint, the Ravens are thin at wideout behind second-year Marquise Brown, who so happens to be Antonio's cousin. Antonio, Marquise and Baltimore QB Lamar Jackson worked out in Miami earlier this year. Jackson has expressed support of signing Brown and Ravens general manager Eric DeCosta hasn't ruled it out.

Seattle could use an upgrade at No. 3 receiver behind Tyler Lockett and second-year DK Metcalf. It could be the Seahawks might have more interest in bringing back Josh Gordon, though. He has applied for reinstatement to the NFL.

Brown is legally clear to return to the NFL as earlier this month in Florida he pled no contest to felony battery charges and was sentenced to 100 hours of community service with two years' probation. However, Brown would be facing NFL discipline for that and due to his inclusion in a 2019 civil suit from a woman accusing him of sexual misconduct and rape. Silver reported around an eight-game suspension is likely.
