After signing Odell Beckham Jr., Ravens now favored to select cornerback over receiver, quarterback in first round 2023 NFL Draft odds

Which way will the Ravens go with their 2023 NFL first-round pick?

The Lamar Jackson saga appears to have no immediate end for the Baltimore Ravens, although they hold all the leverage as to whether the former league MVP plays this season on the non-exclusive franchise tag and likely sweetened the deal for him for 2023 by signing friend Odell Beckham Jr. on Sunday. Even if Jackson does play, it could be his last season in Baltimore as the quarterback has requested a trade. Thus, the team could take his long-term replacement in this month's draft. Will it be with the Ravens' initial pick? Not according to FanDuel oddsmakers.

Last week, Ravens general manager Eric DeCosta said there's a "possibility" the team will take a quarterback in the first round, that it "depends on the board," adding that the Ravens have quarterbacks ranked among their top 31 players. There are 31 first-round picks this year instead of 32 because Miami lost its pick due to tampering violations regarding Tom Brady. Jackson was the No. 32 overall pick in 2018.

Baltimore holds the 22nd overall pick on April 27 in Kansas City. The Ravens likelyy aren't moving up to the top five, so we can surely rule out a shot at QBs CJ Stroud of Ohio State, Bryce Young of Alabama, Anthony Richardson of Florida and even Will Levis of Kentucky. Tennessee's Hendon Hooker could be an option at No. 22. That he is picked by Baltimore is +1600. Minnesota is the +800 leader there and picks one spot after the Ravens.

FanDuel had favored a receiver at -150 as Baltimore's first drafted player regardless of where that pick lands, but after signing Beckham that is now +220. That a cornerback is the selection is the -125 leader, with receiver second at +220 and quarterback +850.

Even after adding Beckham (whom many thought was bound for the Jets at the request of Aaron Rodgers), Baltimore may still spring for a receiver. Beckham's considering injury history is considerable, and he sat out all of last season. No receiver on the 2022 Ravens even reached 500 yards. Rashod Bateman, the No. 27 overall pick in 2021, has had trouble staying healthy. The -200 favorite to be the first wideout off the board first is Ohio State's Jaxon Smith-Njigba, but he will likely not be available at No. 22. Zay Flowers (+350), Quentin Johnston (+600) or Jordan Addison (+600) could be options.

Devon Witherspoon (-140) and Christian Gonzalez (+110) are the favorites to be the first cornerback off the board and both will likely be gone by the 22nd pick.

A healthy Beckham and content (at least this season) Jackson improve the Ravens' chances to win Super Bowl 58 by 1.5% per the SportsLine Projection Model and upgrade the team's win total from 9.6 to 10.0. The sportsbooks have the Ravens at 8.5 wins, although the Over is favored.
