49ers vs. Seahawks Thursday NFL Week 15 odds, trends: Bettors mixed on spread but crushing Christian McCaffrey touchdown, receiving props
Entering Week 15, no team in the NFL has clinched a division title, but that would change tonight if the San Francisco 49ers beat the Seattle Seahawks in an NFC West matchup. Players at BetMGM are quite mixed on the spread with the Niners, listed as 3-point favorites on the road, again starting former third-string quarterback Brock Purdy. However, they are pretty much unanimous on Christian McCaffrey to score a touchdown.
On the spread, 64% of bets are on San Francisco but just 30% of the money. The total is down to 43, and 50% of bets and 89% of money are on the Under. Seattle is +145 on the moneyline and taking 39% of bets and 26% of money on Seahawks.
Technically, Purdy is listed a questionable with an oblique injury but there's little doubt he will start. In his NFL starting debut this past Sunday, Purdy became the first QB making his first-ever start to beat Tom Brady as the Niners blasted the Buccaneers 35-7. Purdy was 16-for-21 for 185 for two touchdowns and zero picks. He became the first Mr. Irrelevant -- the final pick of a draft -- to throw a touchdown pass in a regular-season NFL game.
For tonight, he's set at over/under 214.5 passing yards, a longest completion of 33.5 yards, 1.5 touchdown passes and 0.5 interceptions. Purdy will be without Pro Bowl receiver Deebo Samuel as he injured his ankle in Sunday's victory and could miss around three weeks. That should make McCaffrey the focal point of the offense. He has 89 carries for 426 yards and three scores with 35 catches for 316 yards and three scores since being traded to San Francisco from Carolina.
In Sunday's win, McCaffrey totaled 153 scrimmage yards (119 rushing, 34 receiving) and tallied his 11th career game with both a rushing and receiving touchdown, tied for the fourth-most such games in NFL history. He aims for his third in a row against Seattle with at least 175 scrimmage yards and two touchdowns.
The three-most wagered at BetMGM for tonight are on McCaffrey: to score the game's first TD at +450, to score an anytime TD at -165, and over 35.5 receiving yards at -120. SportsLine now offers NFL player prop picks on the site (odds from Caesars Sportsbook).
Believe it or not, Seattle QB Geno Smith has at least two touchdown passes in seven consecutive games, the longest active streak in the NFL. He leads the league with nine games of at least two touchdown passes and a passer rating of 100 or higher in 2022. The Seahawks will get back running back and NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year candidate Kenneth Walker III tonight after he missed Sunday's home loss to Carolina. He's set at over/under 48.5 rushing yards.Â
