2024 NFL Preseason Chargers vs. Cowboys line, odds: Expert reveals pick for Saturday's matchup
The Dallas Cowboys and Los Angeles Chargers close out the preseason part of their schedule on Saturday when they meet in Arlington, Texas. Dallas enters the game at 1-1, while Los Angeles is 0-2.
Kickoff from AT&T Stadium is set for 4 p.m. ET. Dallas leads the all-time regular-season series 8-5, and has won the last two meetings. Dallas is a 3.5-point favorite in the latest Chargers vs. Cowboys odds, while the over/under for total points scored is set at 33.5.  Â
Before making any Chargers vs. Cowboys picks or predictions of your own, you NEED to see which side SportsLine NFL expert Larry Hartstein is on.Â
A former lead writer for Covers and The Linemakers, Hartstein combines a vast network of Vegas sources with an analytical approach he honed working for Pro Football Focus. He tied for 52nd place (out of 1,598 entries) in the 2022 Westgate Las Vegas SuperContest, going 53-34-3 ATS. Hartstein's weekly Vegas contest selections form the basis of his NFL best bets column, which is 79-48-2 (62.2%, +25.95 units) since its inception in 2022. He's also 23-7 (+1515) on his last 30 sides picks involving the Cowboys! Anyone who has followed him is WAY up!
He knows quarterback Trey Lance has made enough of an impression in camp to land a spot on the 53-man roster, and is expected to see a lot of action against the Chargers. In two preseason games, Lance has completed 40 of 64 attempts (62.5%) for 339 yards and one touchdown, and has rushed for 80 yards. In last Saturday's 27-12 win over the Las Vegas Raiders, he was 15 of 23 for 151 yards and a score. He hit Ryan Flournoy for a 1-yard TD with 1:11 left in the first half. He also rushed seven times for 34 yards and a score.
He is also aware Los Angeles will likely continue to try to sort out its backup quarterback situation with both Easton Stick and Luis Perez expected to see action. Stick, who is expected to start at Dallas, has had mixed results in the Chargers' first two games. In the loss to Seattle, Stick was 5 of 13 for 31 yards and one interception. He improved slightly in the loss to the Rams, completing 8 of 13 passes for 85 yards and one interception.
Now, Hartstein has locked in another confident against-the-spread pick for Chargers vs. Cowboys. We can tell you he's leaning Under the point total, but he knows a crucial X-factor makes one side of the spread a MUST-BACK! You ABSOLUTELY need to see what it is before locking in any picks of your own.
