It was a year of good and bad for the Colts in 2023. On the good side, they easily cleared their win total of 6.5 and nearly made the playoffs despite having to use Gardner Minshew at quarterback for most of the season, putting the offense Shane Steichen likely wanted to roll out over the course of the year with Anthony Richardson at quarterback in moth balls. On the bad side, a defense that had been top 10 in scoring in 2020 and 2021 finished in the bottom five for a second straight year under Gus Bradley, not to mention Richardson losing out on valuable game snaps to develop.

Faced with a team that made some strides in Steichen's first year but still looked like it had plenty of work left to do, the Colts this offseason decided to change ... not much. Richardson will be back under center, health willing, and a year of absorbing the playbook has a chance for the sky to be the limit on him in this offense. The Colts used their second-round pick on Adonai Mitchell to give him another weapon at receiver. Their first-round pick focused on adding to the pass rush with Laiatu Latu, who has the potential to be a top-tier edge player if he stays healthy.

Aside from that? A whole lot of nothing, to be honest. Zack Moss is gone at running back, so it's critical the offense doesn't lose Jonathan Taylor to injury. The defense gets a few guys back from injury but none who are expected to make a major impact. With teams like the Texans and Titans making major additions to their offense, will mostly standing still be enough for the Colts to complete for a division title once again?
