Tiger Woods will be part of a star-studded 2024 Genesis Invitational field when play gets underway from the iconic Riviera Country Club on Thursday, Feb, 15. Woods is the host of this event, which will feature major champions like Scottie Scheffler, Rory McIlroy, Justin Thomas, and Jordan Spieth. Scheffler is the 7-1 favorite, sitting ahead of McIlroy (17-2), Viktor Hovland (12-1), Xander Schauffele (14-1), Max Homa (14-1) and Collin Morikawa (18-1). Woods is going off as a massive 150-1 longshot on the PGA odds board.

Our proprietary model, built by DFS pro Mike McClure, has been red-hot since the PGA Tour resumed in June of 2020. In fact, the model is up more than $9,000 on its best bets since the restart, nailing tournament after tournament.

One major surprise the model is calling for at the 2024 Genesis Invitational: Xander Schauffele, a seven-time PGA Tour champion and one of the top favorites, struggles this week and doesn't even crack the top five! Schauffele recorded three consecutive top-10 finishes to open the 2024 season, but he's coming off a T-54 showing at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am in his last start. He's also failed to crack the top 10 in each of his last five starts at the Genesis Invitational, which doesn't bode well for his chances to finish on top of the leaderboard at Riviera this week. 

The model has also examined where Tiger Woods finishes. Woods has racked up 82 career victories on the PGA Tour, which includes 15 major championships. Despite his storied success, Woods hasn't fared well at Riviera. In fact, Woods has played Riviera 15 times during his career but never won. Woods' appearance this week will mark the first time since the 2023 Masters that the 48-year-old will tee it up on the PGA Tour.
