The final race of the NASCAR Cup Series regular season will take place on Sunday night when Darlington Raceway hosts the 2024 Cook Out Southern 500. Tyler Reddick had his seven-race top-10 streak snapped when he crashed at Daytona last week, but he has two runner-up finishes in his last five Darlington attempts. He has also led a combined 264 laps in his last two starts at this track. Denny Hamlin has four Darlington victories and 17 top-10 finishes in 24 career starts, so he is one of the top 2024 Cook Out Southern 500 contenders as well. 

Reddick, Hamlin and Kyle Larson are the 21-4 co-favorites in the latest 2024 Cook Out Southern 500 odds. Sunday's race is scheduled to start at 6 p.m. ET.

"The top priority for Buescher and his team is likely to build and protect their points cushion towards the playoff cut line, and unless they have a dominant car that's absolutely capable of winning, I would expect them to err more conservative and conventional in this race than I would them go completely gangbusters to try and make up for what happened here back in May," Taranto told SportsLine.
