2024 Conference USA futures odds: Conference winner picks, top longshots, win total best bets and more to know

Get ready for the 2024 college football season with our dive into Conference USA

After five seasons as an independent team, the Liberty Flames joined Conference USA last year and ran roughshod over the competition. Liberty went 8-0 in conference play and 13-0 overall before ending its campaign with a loss to Oregon in the Fiesta Bowl. The Flames matched the Conference USA record for most wins in a season by defeating the New Mexico State Aggies in the conference championship game and were ranked 25th in the final AP poll.

Liberty is expected to again reign supreme in Conference USA and possibly earn a trip to the expanded College Football Playoff as it returns a large number of key players. New Mexico State is not as fortunate, however, and is likely to take a step or two back after going 10-5 last season to cap the program's best two-year stretch (17 victories) in more than six decades. The Aggies enter 2024 with a new head coach and starting quarterback, so a double-digit win total will be difficult to reach.

Two teams that could challenge Liberty for the conference title are the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers and the Jacksonville State Gamecocks. Western Kentucky went 8-5 last year, reaching the eight-win mark for the fourth time in five campaigns. Like the Flames, Jacksonville State had a successful first season in Conference USA as it posted a 9-4 overall record and a 6-2 mark during conference play. Before making any Conference USA bets for the 2024 season, you need to see what legendary college football handicapper Bruce Marshall has to say.

For years, the Vegas-based Marshall was synonymous with The Gold Sheet, the famed sports betting newsletter. With a background in play-by-play work and sports information while in college, he joined TGS in 1981 when hired by the legendary Mort Olshan and served as executive editor for many years. Marshall now supplies his unique and colorful brand of football and basketball analysis to SportsLine members.

Now, Marshall has set his sights on the 2024 Conference USA season. He has revealed his best bets, including which team will win the conference title and which clubs to back in regard to their win totals. You ABSOLUTELY need to see what they are before making any Conference USA picks.
