2024 Bank of America ROVAL 400 odds, NASCAR picks: Best bets for Charlotte from proven racing expert

CBS Sports NASCAR writer Steven Taranto reveals his NASCAR picks to SportsLine for the 2024 Bank of America ROVAL 400 on Sunday

The Round of 12 of the NASCAR Cup Series Playoffs concludes Sunday with the 2024 Bank of America ROVAL 400 at the Charlotte Motor Speedway Road Course. Each of the first two Round-of-12 races were won by non-playoff drivers, leaving the automatic Round-of-8 berths unclaimed. However, William Byron will advance as he is 74 points above the cut line and mathematically cannot drop out of the top eight. Chase Elliott, the 2020 Cup Series champion, currently occupies eighth place in the standings -- 13 points above the cut line -- and has won this race twice in its six-year history.

Shane van Gisbergen is the +375 favorite in the latest 2024 Bank of America ROVAL 400 odds, while A.J. Allmendinger -- who won this race last year -- is 7-1 and Kyle Larson is 17-2. Sunday's race is scheduled to start at 2 p.m. ET.

Before making any NASCAR at Charlotte picks, be sure to see what CBS Sports NASCAR writer Steven Taranto has to say.

Taranto, who moonlights as a sim racer and has 20 career wins in iRacing, is the lead NASCAR writer for CBSSports.com, and he chronicles stock car racing with the same thoroughness and passion that he's had since becoming a full-time race fan in 2001. He has an annual NASCAR media credential and also publishes a popular weekly NASCAR predictions column, famously calling Ross Chastain and Daniel Suarez's breakthrough wins in 2022. Taranto has been red-hot for SportsLine in 2024 as he has nailed 14 winners, including 16-1 longshot William Byron at the Daytona 500 and 14-1 longshot Chase Elliott at Texas. Anybody following his NASCAR picks has seen HUGE returns!

For the 2024 Bank of America ROVAL 400, we can tell you Taranto is high on William Byron (9-1), who has posted back-to-back top-three finishes and was runner-up at Charlotte last year. Another curveball: He's fading Tyler Reddick (11-1), who has finished 20th or worse in five of his last seven starts. "For all his success this year as NASCAR's regular-season champ, and his great road-racing chops as well, the performance of Reddick in this year's playoffs - four straight finishes of 20th or worse - is too much for me to dismiss," Taranto told SportsLine. "I just can't bring myself to trust him."

Taranto also locked in four more Bank of America ROVAL 400 best bets and is high on a MAJOR dark horse who is going off at more than 30-1! You ABSOLUTELY need to see his picks before locking in any NASCAR picks of your own.
