It was almost a tale of two campaigns a year ago for San Jose State, which developed plenty of momentum heading into midseason before kicking away a game at Fresno State, and then dealing with the tragic loss of freshman running back Camdan McWright, who was fatally injured in an accident near campus. The incident forced a postponement, then cancellation, of the game at New Mexico State. Thereafter, emotionally at least, the Spartans were never quite the same, only securing bowl eligibility at the expense of some bottom-tier Mountain West foes. The Idaho Potato Bowl proved a downer, too, with a bad loss to Eastern Michigan putting the finishing touch on a once-promising season...Â
