The draft is over, a middling class of veteran free agents have been picked clean and rosters are, for the most part, set. And it seems to me that of all the divisions in football, none is as unsettled as the NFC South.

I have a hard time stumping hard for any of these teams as the clear and obvious front runner to win it. It was a wild, weird race a year ago with none of these clubs distinguishing themselves on a weekly basis (or even really a quasi-regular basis), and it just may play out that way again. The reality is (was?) that a team with an interim head coach probably did the best job overall – considering the disaster that was Matt Rhule was, the Panthers' subsequent sell-off of talent in the aftermath of his dismissal, and their attempt to play a full NFL season without anyone resembling a legit starting NFL quarterback.
