We're afraid Tom "Mr. Intensity" Allen is headed down the same path as most of his predecessors. Following his rather surprising promotion from the staff of the deposed Kevin Wilson (now at Tulsa) in December of 2016, and after some rather unexpected successes early in his tenure, including the pandemic season of 2020, Indiana has not been able to sustain its momentum. It's a familiar development in these parts. Allen's last two teams in Bloomington are a combined 6-18. To make matters worse, Allen's bullhorn style is regarded as an awkward fit for the new generation of recruits. Many regional observers suspect a repeat of the unsatisfactory endings of almost every coaching regime at Indiana across the past 70 years...
