Tiger Woods will once again play in his host event when the 2023 Hero World Challenge begins on Thursday at Albany Golf Course. There are no FedExCup points awarded at this tournament, but there are four previous FedExCup winners in the field. Viktor Hovland is the reigning FedExCup champion and he's also won the Hero World Challenge in each of the last two years. 

Hovland enters this week's event as the 4-1 favorite according to the latest 2023 Hero World Challenge odds. Some of the other names in the Hero World Challenge 2023 field include Scottie Scheffler (9-2), Max Homa (8-1) and Collin Morikawa (8-1). They are followed by Matt Fitzpatrick (16-1), Justin Thomas (16-1), Cameron Young (16-1) and Sam Burns (20-1) on the PGA odds board.

Our proprietary model, built by DFS pro Mike McClure, has been red-hot since the PGA Tour resumed in June of 2020. In fact, the model is up more than $9,000 on its best bets since the restart, nailing tournament after tournament.

The 2023 Hero World Challenge is being played at Albany Golf Course, which is a par 72 stretching 7,449 yards. This is the eighth time the event is being played at the links-style Ernie Els design. There are five par 5s and five par 3s on a course that features windswept dunes measuring up to 30 feet high. Woods did not play in this event last year, but he went on to make PGA Tour starts at The Genesis Invitational and the Masters earlier this year. 

One major surprise the model is calling for at the Hero World Challenge 2023: Collin Morikawa, a two-time major champion and one of the top favorites, struggles this week and doesn't even crack the top five! Another surprise: Rickie Fowler, a 20-1 longshot, makes a strong run at the title. He has a much better chance to win it all than his odds imply, so he's a target for anyone looking for a huge payday.
