2023 Florida State Seminoles win total betting strategy: Mike Norvell has FSU back to prominence after 10-win year
They're back! We're talking about Florida State, which had been lost in the college football wilderness the past few years like the Noles hadn't been since the pre-Bobby Bowden days of the mid-'70s under Darrell Mudra. It wasn't easy for Mike Norvell, who arrived from Memphis just in time for the pandemic season to take over a program that had begun its precipitous decline in the later stages of the Jimbo Fisher era and continued to erode in the brief Willie Taggart regime. But before Deion Sanders could put his name in nomination for the job at his alma mater, Norvell: recorded 10 wins last fall, the first time in double digits at FSU since 2016; "won the state" by beating Florida and Miami; topped long-ago bowl nemesis Oklahoma in the Orlando Cheez-It Bowl; wound up ranked in the top 10 in the coaches poll. Just like old times (well, almost!).
Better things could be in store this autumn as Norvell has temporarily quieted what had become a very spoiled support base during the many glory years of Bowden and the brief return to national prominence under Jimbo. Patience, however, has been rewarded, as what was one of the nation's youngest rosters during Norvell's first couple of seasons has now become one of the most experienced, with juniors and seniors likely to start at every position. NIL also happens to be made for the FSU support base, which has quickly gotten up to speed and made sure the Noles stay cutting edge in that department, too.
