2022 3M Open field, odds, predictions: PGA Tour best bets and picks from golf expert who digs for the long shots
The PGA Tour season is winding down quickly, and that means it will be a scramble for FedEx Cup points at this week's 2022 3M Open at TPC Twin Cities. A handful of top players like Hideki Matsuyama and Tony Finau are making their way to Blaine, Minn. from St. Andrews after the Open Championship. The 3M Open 2022 field also will feature up-and-coming stars like Sahith Theegala and Davis Riley, as well as veterans like Jason Day and Rickie Fowler.  Â
Finau is the 12-1 favorite in Caesars Sportsbook's latest 2022 3M Open odds, with Matsuyama (16-1) and Sungjae Im (18-1) not far behind. Adam Hadwin (20-1), Maverick McNealy (22-1), Theegala (25-1), Riley (25-1) and Cam Davis (25-1) also are among the favorites in the 2022 3M Open field.  Â
Before you consider any 2022 3M Open Championship picks or make any PGA Tour predictions, you really need to see what golf expert Jim Holliman has to say.Â
Holliman has been a writer and editor for nearly 25 years and has been playing and following the game closely for more than three decades. The Florida-based writer knows what it takes to win on the PGA Tour and how the players' games fit the courses.
While his top pick Rory McIlroy came up just short at the British Open, Holliman still had a STRONG week picking the year's final major. Four of his picks finished in the top eight, including longer shots Dustin Johnson (35-1) and Tommy Fleetwod (35-1). He faded favorites Jon Rahm (14-1) and Justin Thomas (18-1), and neither finished in the top 25. Even 200-1 shot Chris Kirk made the weekend and finished in the top half of the field.Â
Holliman also backed winner Xander Schauffele before the Scottish Open, and he has a knack for finding longshots who can contend. Before the John Deere Classic, Holliman was high on Maverick McNealy (28-1) and Denny McCarthy (25-1) as both posted top-10 finishes. And at the Travelers, Holliman backed Schauffele among his best bets and loved 45-1 Brian Harman, who shot 66 on Sunday to tie for eighth.
At the PGA Championship, he touted Cameron Young, who came in at 65-1 and tied for third. For the Wells Fargo, he backed winner Max Homa (40-1) and runner-up Keegan Bradley (35-1), and even had Stephan Jaeger (125-1) among his contenders as the German tied for sixth. Anyone who has followed Holliman's predictions is WAY UP!
Now, Holliman has released his confident 2022 3M Open picks. SHOCKINGLY, the golf expert is fading Sungjae Im, who is one of the top options, according to Caesars. Im tied for 81st at The Open and missed the cut in his previous two events. "I see no reason -- aside from talent -- to back him this week," Holliman says. Â
Instead, the golf expert is touting a MASSIVE long shot who comes in at around 80-1! This golfer has all the skills necessary to win, but his balky putter has let him down. He could get it going this week and pull off a STUNNING result, and anyone who backs this underdog could cash in HUGE!
