Last game for the Golden Bears as a member of the Pac-12; it will be Cal of the ACC (get used to it!) next season. Cal at least went out of the Pac with a bang by winning its last three to get bowl-eligible, including vs. Stanford in the Big Game and a 33-7 thumper over UCLA in the November 25 finale. Cal did revive in the second half of the season behind frosh QB Fernando Mendoza, and good news that RB Jaydn Ott has decided to stick around and not test the portal. Not sure about Texas Tech's fortitude after letting the Longhorns run all over them 57-7 in the reg-season finale. Play Cal (Independence Bowl)
Rain might be a factor in the Independence Bowl, so don’t be surprised if this game isn’t as much of a track meet than originally anticipated. Texas Tech has been hit hard by the portal, and that will make quarterback Behren Morton’s job much more difficult. That matters quite a bit because the Golden Bears defense, while atrocious at times, should be able to get enough stops to hit the under.
