Kansas vs. Iowa State college basketball odds: Big 12 leading scorer Ochai Agbaji out for ranked matchup, spread drops

No. 10 Kansas will not have star Ochai Agbaji tonight at No. 20 Iowa State.

Big 12 Player of the Year favorite and conference leading scorer Ochai Agbaji will not play tonight for No. 10 Kansas (17-3) when the Jayhawks visit No. 20 Iowa State (16-5) looking to sweep the season series. KU had been a 4.5-point favorite at Caesars Sportsbook but is down to -2.5. The total also has dropped a couple of points to 136.5. Click here for model picks.

A National Player of the Year candidate as well, Agbaji leads KU in scoring (20.9 points per game – first in Big 12 and 12th nationally) and 3-point field goal percentage (46.4 – second in Big 12 and 10th nationally), but he's in the COVID protocols and didn't even travel to Ames. Thus, the senior's streak of 97 consecutive starts for Kansas will end. That streak is eighth all-time at KU. Agbaji's 211 career three-point field goals have him at seventh on the all-time school list and his 1,338 career points are 31st.

Agbaji has been named to the John R. Wooden Award Late Season Top 20 Watch List. He is looking to become the third Jayhawk to win the Wooden Award, joining Danny Manning (1988) and Frank Mason III (2017). When Kansas won a wild 62-61 game over Iowa State in Lawrence on Jan. 11, Agbaji led all scores with 22 points and added seven rebounds. Dajuan Harris hit a driving layup with 8 seconds left to win that one.

Kansas comes off a shockingly lopsided home loss to Kentucky in non-conference action but is 105-15 following a loss in the Bill Self era, including 2-0 this year. KU has won the last five against Iowa State.

The Cyclones enter on a two-game winning streak and are 12-2 at home. Guard Izaiah Brockington was voted Big 12 Men's Basketball Player of the Week for last week, averaging 20.5 points, shooting 50 percent from the field, 80 percent behind the arc and 90 percent at the free-throw line. Brockington has a Big 12-best seven double-doubles. He had 17 points and eight rebounds in the first meeting with KU.

The road team is 5-2 against the spread in the past seven in this series.
