Today's picks: Why Pirates will win vs. Tigers plus more MLB, NBA and NHL picks for Tuesday

The Coach is joined by featured sports betting experts Mike McClure and Larry Hartstein on the Early Edge podcast, powered by SportsLine. The guys supply their top picks for MLB, the NBA and NHL for Tuesday, April 20. 

Even though the schedule seems lighter in the NBA, there is still a heavy amount of injury news to absorb. Mike has updates on teams such as the Magic, Hawks, Pelicans and more. He delivers the goods on stars such as LaMelo Ball, Kevin Durant, Damian Lillard, Karl-Anthony Towns and others. Larry adds to the SportsLine Storylines of the Day by welcoming a new and notable expert to the staff. 

The Coach slips in his SportsLine Plays of the Day. In the NHL, he is on the Kings at -145 over the Ducks at 10 p.m. ET, as Los Angeles wants to get out in front in a series of games between the teams. in MLB, he stresses that the market has not caught up to the underrated Mariners yet, so he is backing Seattle +1.5 over the Los Angeles Dodgers at 4:10 p.m. ET. 

Coming off a perfect day. Mike takes the hill for his MLB selections, opening with the Reds -140 over the Diamondbacks at 6:40 p.m. ET. Weather could present a challenge in this one, but he is not backing away. Luis Castillo is better than the early returns indicate, he says, and the Cincinnati offense has the numbers to further back the pick up. Mike is also siding with the Cubs +115 over the Mets at 7:40 p.m. ET. He strongly believes the weather will favor Jake Arrieta and the home team. 

In the NBA, Larry is sticking with Buddy Hield for a bounce-back performance in Timberwolves-Kings at 10:00 p.m. ET. He highlights a major stat that works heavily in favor of Hield going over 3.5 three-pointers made. He also opts for Kevin Huerter over 12.5 points in Magic-Hawks at 7:30 p.m. ET. In MLB, Larry is recommending Tyler Anderson and the Pirates +120 over the Tigers at 6:40 p.m. ET. "I'm going to take a shot on the Pirates as road dogs at Detroit," he says. "This is mainly a play against Detroit. The Pirates have won six of nine, and they're playing better. The Tigers have scored two runs in their last three games and they're facing a lefty. They are the absolute worst team, with a .225 wOBA, against left-handed pitching." The Coach puts the official seal of approval of the Pirates pick by deeming it the "Dog of the Day."
