Today's picks: Why Penn State will cover vs. Miami, plus more college basketball, NBA and Premier League picks for Wednesday

The SportsLine Play of the Day is a Premier League pick. The Coach backs Liverpool -1.5 over Everton at 3:15 p,m. ET. Liverpool has been a scoring machine lately. 

In college hoops, Mike is on Penn State -2.5 over Miami at 9:15 p.m. ET, citing the Nittany Lions' home court advantage as a "critical" factor. "A lot of the early season play in college basketball is at neutral site tournaments. Penn State returns home," he says. "Being at home early in the college basketball season is a great time. It's a great atmosphere on campus. I like the way they shoot from the perimeter with Jalen Pickett and Myles Dread."

Zack is going with Wisconsin -3.5 over Georgia Tech at 9:15 p.m. ET. This is the Badgers' first true road game of the year, but the pace will favor their outlook. He is also taking the Thunder -3 over the Rockets at 8 p.m. ET. Houston has been showing signs of life lately but reality is about to set in again. 

Justin has a trio of college basketball plays from his model, leading with Missouri State -6.5 over Illinois State at 8 p.m. ET. The Bears are a top 75 team in many models. He is also taking South Alabama -6.5 over Southern Miss at 8 p.m. ET. He finishes with Utah Valley +14.5 over BYU at 9 p.m. ET. This should be a tight game, as Utah Valley has circled the matchup on its schedule. 

Larry's featured NBA play is the Cavaliers +7 over the Heat at 7:30 p.m. ET. He is expecting a tight game, especially because Cleveland is playing very well on that side of the ball.
