Today's picks: Why Bears will cover vs. Vikings, plus more NFL and college football picks for Monday
Jonathan Coachman goes "five wide" with top sports betting experts Mike McClure, Chip Patterson, Zack Cimini and Allan Bell on the Early Edge podcast, powered by SportsLine. Get highlighted plays for the NFL and college football for Monday, Dec. 20, and you can stream the show live every morning on the SportsLine YouTube page.
Chip looks at how underdogs are faring so far in bowl games, and tells us why you should consider them on the money line as well. The Coach adds his insights about Unders in the bowl games. Allan reveals some interesting trends about Jonathan Taylor's rushing totals in the Colts' wins and losses.Â
Mike is taking the Raiders and Browns to go Over 35.5 points at 5 p.m. ET, combining the pick in a teaser with the Rams -1 over the Seahawks on Tuesday at 7 p.m. ET. He believes Cleveland will get enough players back in action to help the selection. In Seahawks-Rams, Los Angeles will benefit from the rescheduling of the matchup, while Seattle now faces more adversity.Â
Chip's featured college football play is Old Dominion -9 over Tulsa in the Myrtle Beach Bowl at 2:30 p.m. ET. These teams have identical records, but the Monarchs are playing better than their wins and losses indicate. A .500 record is also more of a disappointment for Tulsa. Old Dominion is surging after a rocky start to the season.Â
Allan has a pair of Monday night prop plays, including Hunter Renfrow Over 77.5 receiving yards in Raiders-Browns. He has doubled his production over the past three games, and Derek Carr really has no one else to rely on. He is also going with Justin Jefferson's longest reception to be Over 28.5 receiving yards in Vikings-Bears at 8:15 p.m. ET. Chicago may be focused on containing Dalvin Cook, and Jefferson will benefit with another big outing.Â
Zack is on the Bears +9 against the Vikings. "I know the Bears had significant COVID issues, it bit them last week in the second half against the Packers, when their defense just unraveled," he says. "But I think their offense can do a little bit of what they did last week, and maybe cut down on the turnovers. The Minnesota Vikings have had problems all year trying to pull away from teams. In their division, they have not won a game by more than three points."
