I've been waiting for this to get to a full field goal before pouncing on it. While I am not sure the Panthers got better after trading Kelvin Benjamin, I like their idea of getting faster offensively, using Christian McCaffrey and Curtis Samuel as both rushers and pass catchers. Atlanta has been struggling all season, and Carolina should pull this off at home. The field goal gives a bit of cushion in case Matt Ryan engineers something special late.
The Falcons have won and covered three straight meetings. Carolina has yet to cover a home game this season. Despite all that, the Panthers are the play here. Their defense is peaking and now ranks second in yards allowed. In half their games, the Panthers have not allowed the opponent to score a touchdown.
The Falcons are 2-5 ATS, and they haven't covered in the past four weeks. The Falcons have won and covered the past three meetings, but we know now they aren't the same explosive team we saw under former offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan. I'm looking for a conservative Panthers' offensive game plan to be enough to get the home win.
The Falcons rolled the Panthers in both games last year, and now it's time for Carolina to get revenge at home. Atlanta finally got back in the win column last week, but it wasn't exactly an impressive showing, and they've now failed to cover four straight games. The Falcons have great yards-per-play numbers, but it's not translating on the field. The Panthers defense was predictably excellent with Luke Kuechly back on the field, and they've now held opponents to just three points in three separate games.
