Locked in last night at +2. Tampa Bay has lost three straight games by five points or fewer, but Carolina has proven throughout the rest of the season it is better than the performance it gave against Chicago's stout defense. The Panthers have the better defense, and they have enough offensive weapons to take advantage of the NFL's worst overall defensive unit. I'll take the extra point just in case.
The Bucs' secondary is in disarray due to injuries, while the Panthers are getting defensive leader Luke Kuechly back. Take Carolina, which except for last week has played extremely well on the road.
Tampa Bay returns home after a tough road trip that featured losses against Arizona and Buffalo. Carolina has had its own issues that culminated in a road disastrous loss to the Bears. The angle here is the Panthers’ defense attacking the growing issues of Bucs QB Jameis Winston. Grab Carolina.
Get ready for a Panthers bounceback. Their offense predictably struggled on the road in a tough matchup against a quality Bears defense, but now they get to face the league's worst defense, per DVOA, one that will be missing its top two cornerbacks. That should allow Cam Newton and Co. to rebound and score in the mid-20s at least. I'm not confident the Bucs can keep up against a quality Panthers defense that's held every opponent but the Patriots under 215 passing yards, a unit that should have Luke Kuechly back in the fold this week. The Bucs also historically haven't had a great home-field advantage. Any points we can get here are gravy.
The wind is going to play a big role Sunday, limiting what the offenses can do. Go Under.
