The Pirates can't score much, but the Cardinals might even be worse off in that regard right now in a matchup of aces: Sonny Gray and Paul Skenes. Gray has not looked that great yet in 2025 and pitches on the road for the first time; he had a 5.20 ERA away in 2024. Skenes has a 1.31 ERA in 20.2 career innings vs. St. Louis, although two of his three big-leagues losses are against the Cards. That likely only helps serve as motivation.
