2023 NFL futures, odds: Make or miss playoffs picks highlight best bets in AFC and NFC, which teams to fade

We've already laid out the odds and betting strategy for Super Bowl LVIII and the winners of each division as we dive into 2023 NFL futures. Today, we're going through each team's odds to make and miss the playoffs to find which teams are worth backing and which are worth fading.

Last season, my biggest futures bet in my portfolio was on the Titans to miss the playoffs at even odds, and even though Tennessee finished 28th in points scored I still needed a bit of Week 18 luck to cap a 0-7 finish for the Titans to cash my ticket. I also hit on the Dolphins making the playoffs at +165 last year and just missed the Lions making the playoffs at +400, a disappointing loss on a longshot play. But my biggest miss might have been playing both the Ravens and Chargers to win their divisions rather than make the playoffs, turning what would have been wins into losses.

But now we move on to 2023, where the AFC again looks stacked compared to the NFC. You can find the odds for every NFL team to make or miss the playoffs below, with the 49ers the biggest favorites to make the playoffs rather than the Chiefs thanks to the conference they play in. Other teams that are at least -200 to make the playoffs include the Eagles, Bengals, Bills, Jaguars and Cowboys. On the flip side, the Cardinals have the shortest odds to miss the playoffs at -2000, followed by the Texans at -1000 and the Buccaneers at -500
