Tuesday, August 22 MLB odds, props, trends: Bettors hammering Orioles' Ryan Mountcastle, who has hammered Blue Jays in 2023
Bettors are all over Baltimore's Ryan Mountcastle for Tuesday's game vs. Toronto.
The Baltimore Orioles lost the season series to the AL East-rival Toronto Blue Jays in each of the past five years, but already have clinched the 2023 installment thanks in large part to Ryan Mountcastle absolutely crushing Toronto pitching. Two of the three most-wagered props at DraftKings on the Tuesday MLB board are on Mountcastle against the visiting Jays.
Baltimore leads the season series 8-2 with these three games left and has totaled 60 runs while slashing .298/.350/.472 against Toronto pitching with 14 homers and 20 doubles. Mountcastle has led the charge, hitting .480 (12-for-25) with four doubles, a homer and eight runs scored. Mountcastle Over 1.5 total bases (+100) and Mountcastle Over 0.5 home runs (+500) are the Nos. 1 and 3 props on the board in terms of action.
Mountcastle has hit safely in 17 of 18 games in August, batting .403 (27-for-67) with four homers, 14 RBI and 14 runs scored. He has reached base safely in a career-high 26 straight games since July 21, the longest active streak in MLB. It's also the longest on-base streak by an Orioles batter since Jonathan Schoop reached in 26 consecutive games from April 12 to May 12, 2017.
Toronto starts lefty Yusei Kikuchi (9-4, 3.44 ERA) on the mound. He has allowed one run or fewer in each of his last six starts, tied for the longest streak in team history. Since the All-Star break, his 1.29 ERA leads all MLB pitchers. He hasn't allowed a homer in his past six outings, matching his career-best streak set as a Seattle Mariner.
However, Mountcastle is 7-for-12 career off Kikuchi with four homers and a double. The Blue Jays have gone 11-23 against AL East opponents this season, the third fewest divisional wins in MLB. The team's .324 divisional winning percentage is the third-lowest in team history.
Tonight's other popular MLB player props at DraftKings:
- Yankees' Carlos Rodon Under 5.5 strikeouts (-140) vs. Nationals: Rodon has topped six Ks in one of six starts this year.
- Angels' Shohei Ohtani Over 0.5 home runs (+290) vs. Reds: Ohtani has never faced Cincinnati starting pitcher Graham Ashcraft.
- Brewers' Wade Miley Over 1.5 walks allowed (-120) vs. Twins: Miley has walked at least two in six straight starts.
