Host Allan Bell is joined by sports betting experts Mike McClure, Emory Hunt and Micah Roberts on The Early Edge podcast. They give you their best bets for college football and the PGA Tour for Saturday, Aug. 27.

The guys are fired up for the start of college football, and Emory says if you do your homework you can cash in big early. That would set you up to choose more selectively the rest of the year and make it a profitable college football season.

The SportsLine Play of the Day is from the first college football slate of the year. Allan offers up the pick, and it is Hawaii +9.5 (-110) at home against Vanderbilt (10:30 p.m. ET). The Rainbow Warriors are covering in 67 percent of the simulations from the SportsLine Projection Model. Hawaii is 7-2-1 against the spread as a home underdog since 2019, the best mark in FBS, Bell says.

Mike has a First-Quarter Under to kick off his season of college football picks. He is taking Under 10 (+110) in the first quarter of the Nebraska vs. Northwestern game in Dublin, Ireland (12:30 p.m. ET). Both teams have seen a lot of changes, and Mike expects to see plenty of mistakes in the early going. "There's really no sense of urgency to end a quarter" like there is before halftime, McClure says, so he loves these plays.

Emory also is on college football, and he is going with Utah State -27 (-110) against UConn (4 p.m. ET). "I think UConn will be vastly improved this season under Jim Mora Jr. ... but they are a year away from being a year away," Hunt says. "They are facing a Utah State team that is talented on offense, has really good point-of-attack play on defense. I think they'll be too strong, on both sides of the ball vs. UConn."

Jonathan Coachman then joins the show from the PGA Tour's playoff finale at East Lake in Atlanta for his Cash With The Coach picks. He has three plays from the Tour Championship, and they are third-round matchup bets.

His first is Jordan Spieth +100 over Collin Morikawa. Spieth is a former FedEx Cup champ who has won at East Lake before, and he shot 68 on Friday. "Collin Morikawa, he's still searching for his swing," Coach says. "He's very inconsistent right now."

Coach also likes Justin Thomas -140 over Matt Fitzpatrick and Xander Schauffele -139 over leader and world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler. "You talk about history," Coachman says of Schauffele. "This man never shoots over par on this golf course. Never."

Micah wraps up the show with his college football pick, and he is backing North Texas -1 (-110) against UTEP (9 p.m. ET). "We're riding momentum," Roberts says. The Mean Green closed last season on a 5-0 run after starting 1-6. UNT doesn't turn the ball over, has a strong running game and the offense averaged 383 yards during its five-game win streak. The offensive line is mostly intact from last year, and Micah says you always have to back the teams wtih strong line play.
