All That and a Bag of Mail: Dallas Robinson needs a sponsor

Our beaver pelt trader of week comes courtesy of reader Hope Taylor's beaver pelt nomination.

"I found this link to a New York Times article about Dallas Robinson training to be an Olympic sprinter. He's going about it a little bit differently than most. I wonder how fast he could run the 40? "Maybe Tardio could sponsor him?"

First, congrats to Dallas Robinson on becoming the beaver pelt trader of the week and beating out Shan Foster, who I was going to belatedly credit for hitting nine consecutive 3s against Mississippi State in his senior finale at Vanderbilt. I feel like Shan is going to win a beaver pelt in the NCAA tourney.

Second, this article is superb. Lots of great quotes. But buried in the second page of this article is the statement: "He says he's aiming to become the first white athlete to break the 10-second barrier in the 100."

Can you believe that no white person has ever broken the 10 second barrier? Ever? Has an Asian person? A Hispanic person? We're not talking about a world record. We're talking about within two-tenths of a second of the world record. Not winning, just losing respectably. This is amazingly incompetent of an entire race, the rough equivalent of a Moldovan person never having gotten an airplane pilot's license in the history of the country.

I'm disgusted by my fellow white people. Dallas Robinson just became my favorite sprinter because he's seeking to erase generations of shame. As for Tardio's sponsorship, given the fact that Tardio occasionally forgets to pay his electric bill and his electricity gets cut off, I don't think Mr. Robinson needs the added stress in his life of relying on checks from a forgetful benefactor.

Justin Tymes writes in with great news on the ClayNation bracket challenge:

Clay,

After reading your article today I hope it's not too late to make an offer in regards to the prize for your Facebook bracket, but I would like to donate a miniature basketball hoop to the ClayNation.

Over the last several years my family and I have been manufacturing and selling miniature basketball hoops, mostly on the internet at www.justintymesports.com. We've also done specialty orders for Shiner Beer and Captain Morgan ...

Anyways, as an avid reader of your articles I thought it would be nice for me to make a contribution to the ClayNation in the form of a free hoop. The exact hoop I'd be willing to donate would be our Mini Pro II (which can come in wall mount, or if preferred, could also be made into a door mount)."

Nice. These hoops are pretty cool and you're lying if you don't pretend your trashcan is a basketball goal at least 10 times a week. Now, thanks to this prize donation, we've got a mini-basketball hoop valued at over $110 and an interview in the column (valued at $1.63) as prizes. So there's a lot to win.

I've also heard complaints from people who aren't on Facebook or don't want to download the Facebook app so they can't join the group here. So we've also set up a challenge online at CBS as well. You're already on this site, all you have to do is click the link to join. Our password is bingowings.
