Mets right fielder Ryan Church was cleared by team physicians to resume light cardiovascular activity.

Church, on the disabled list with post-concussion syndrome, ran sprints and rode a stationary bike and reported no ill effects.

Church anticipates beginning baseball activities next week.

"I'm itching right now just to go out and grab a bat and jump in there," Church said. "I don't think it will take me that long to be game ready. This time around, my body feels great. I'm not fatigued, and I'm waking up and I've got energy."

After several days of batting practice, Church will go on a minor league rehab assignment.

"We don't want to put a timeline on when he's going to be back," general manager Omar Minaya said. "But the fact is that we're very encouraged by his progress."

METS 7, CARDINALS 2: Mike Pelfrey continued his roll, winning his seventh consecutive decision, and Carlos Delgado hit his 20th homer.

The Mets have won 14 of 17 games and, coupled with Philadelphia's loss, increased their lead to two games in the NL East.

Pelfrey gave up one run on seven hits with five strikeouts and no walks in seven innings.

Reliever Duaner Sanchez struggled again, giving up a run on two hits without retiring a batter.
