MOST VALUABLE PLAYER
Center Mats Sundin was supposed to start taking a lesser role with the team, but at 37, he showed no signs of slowing. He missed eight games due to injury, but rang up 78 points to beat his nearest teammate, center Nik Antropov, by 22. He also passed Darryl Sittler for first place in franchise scoring history, ending the season with 987 points.

MOST DISAPPOINTING PLAYER
When the Leafs think of missing the playoffs by five or six wins, they'll wonder what happened to goalie Andrew Raycroft's 37-win form of 2006-07. He was given ample opportunity to win his job back over goalie Vesa Toskala, then flopped in some big games that proved fatal to the Leafs. Raycroft ended the year with a record of 2-9-5.

FREE AGENT FOCUS
Interim general manager Cliff Fletcher says he will not be making any decisions on whether he'll try and buy out the contracts of any Leafs, until he knows whether he will still be in office in late June.

The easiest player to buy out is probably RW Darcy Tucker, who would cost about $1 million a year over the next six years.

Unrestricted FA C Mats Sundin has returned home to Sweden for a few weeks, promising to meet with Fletcher in Toronto in early June to tell him which way he's leaning on returning.

The Leafs and restricted free agent C Matt Stajan are expected to reach a deal before going to salary arbitration in August. Stajan was one of a handful of players to appear in all 82 games for Toronto.

However, it's believed that re-signing RFA C Kyle Wellwood will not go as smoothly, based on an injury-marred, slump-ridden season.

PLAYER NOTES

--The AHL Marlies remained alive in the playoffs up to May 9, down 3-1 in a second-round best-of-7 series against the Syracuse Crunch. Marlies' coach Greg Gilbert continues to use G Scott Clemmensen instead of young Leaf prospect Justin Pogge.

--The Leafs signed 2007 first round RW pick Dale Mitchell to an entry-level contract after a good playoff performance with the Oshawa Generals and assigned him to the Marlies.

With the rediculous success of the Jays version and the complete inactivity on this board, the Leafs True/False has been born.

Answer true or false to the statement above you, then leave a statement yourself.

As the team's number one centre, Antropov scores at least 26 goals (had 26 last season).

If I was Cliffy Boy here is what I would do.

First of I would bring back Sundin, I don't care about the cap right now, with the deletions I make later on the 7 million will be fesible.  Sundin really helped Antropov develop last year, and with one more year of Sundin's tutalige  I think Antropov can peak at about 65 poin
