Forward Max Talbot's injury-plagued season took a turn for the better Sunday.

Talbot, who missed 19 regular-season games due to a high right ankle sprain and three playoff games with a broken right foot, scored the winning goal in Game 2 of the Penguins' Eastern Conference final showdown against Philadelphia.

Talbot had not played since April 29, when his foot was broken on a blocked shot against the New York Rangers in Game 3 of a second-round series.

"It's what you dream about as a little kid, scoring a goal like this," Talbot said. "I couldn't be happier."

PENGUINS 4, FLYERS 2: Pittsburgh blew two leads and overcame a questionable waived-off goal to best Philadelphia in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference final.

The Penguins lead the series, 2-0. Game 3 is Tuesday in Philadelphia.

Defenseman Sergei Gonchar recorded three assists -- none as spectacular as the goal he did not get credit for in the first period. His shot deflected off Flyers defenseman Derian Hatcher and glove by goaltender Martin Biron behind the goal line.

An on-ice official ruled no goal, and that decision was upheld by replay officials.

Do you guys see him getting some more playing time this year? I don't know his whole story and what happened last season after picking him up?

Did anyone else happen to catch Bob Smizik's column in today's Post-Gazette?  The premise for his article is how much Hossa will get booed when he comes to town Feb 8.  He calls PGH fans knuckleheads for booing Jagr and Aramis Ramirez, then proceeds to use the knucklehead term 8 times during his article.

Look, I don't boo Jagr, or Ramirez, and never really even gav ...(more)

Jeff Taffe resign for a one year deal reported today.  Not sure on the money but I would guess around 600,000.  I don't expect to see to much of him, but he can add some depth to the third or fourth line if an injury happens.
