--Former Toronto Maple Leafs coach Paul Maurice might have had a shot at the Ottawa job had he not made comments following the April 3 installment of the "Battle of Ontario" that did not sit well with Bryan Murray. Speaking of the controversial Mark Bell hit that sidelined Ottawa captain Daniel Alfredsson, Maurice suggested it couldn't have been dirty as there were only a few minor "purse swinging" incidents after it. Murray took that to mean Maurice was questioning the toughness of Senators' players, and said at the time that the Leafs' coach need not bother calling him for a job down the road.

--Following conversations with Murray, goalie coach Eli Wilson expects to be back next season, which will be his second with the team. Only six teams allowed more than the 247 goals the Senators surrendered in 2007-08, but much of the blame was put on the team's shoddy defensive play.
