MOST VALUABLE PLAYER
RW Marian Gaborik. Seventy-seven games proved that Gaborik can be healthy for essentially a full season. Other than a few tweaks to his oft-strained groin, Gaborik skated pain-free and it paid off with a franchise-record 42 goals and 83 points.

MOST DISAPPOINTING PLAYER
LW/C Pavol Demitra. Openly complained all season about playing center in Jacques Lemaire's system, Demitra had his worst offensive full season in his career.

FREE AGENT FOCUS
LW Brian Rolston and Demitra are the two biggest names of the Wild's 10 potential unrestricted free agents. The Wild will make a run at bringing Rolston back, but he knows he'll be highly-coveted on the free-agent market and wants a significant pay bump from his $2.432 million salary. The other free agents are LW Todd Fedoruk, RW Branko Radivojevic, D Keith Carney, D Sean Hill, D Petteri Nummelin, LW Chris Simon, LW Aaron Voros and RW Matt Foy. RW Pierre-Marc Bouchard is the biggest restricted free agent.

PLAYER NOTES

--RW Branko Radivojevic underwent reconstructive knee surgery two weeks ago to repair a torn ACL. Radivojevic is an unrestricted free agent, so there's a very good chance the Wild will orchestrate his rehab and continue to treat him past July 1 before cutting him loose.

"I'll be a fast healer," Radivojevic said.

--Pending free agent Pavol Demitra traveled to Vancouver after the season to check out the city prior to returning to his native Slovakia for the summer.

Demitra, 33, can become a free agent July 1 and both he and the Wild appeared destined to part ways after the season.

The Demitra visit was confirmed by new Canucks GM Mike Gillis during a radio interview on Vancouver's Team 1040-am.

Gillis, Demitra's agent until last month, called it "flattering" that an unrestricted free agent would take the initiative to check out Vancouver on his own.

Reportedly, Demitra was given a guided tour by Canucks captain Markus Naslund, also a possible free agent and former client of Gillis.

Demitra is coming off the worst full season offensively of his career, scoring 15 goals and 54 points in 68 games.

--Last month, Wild GM Doug Risebrough intimated that the team would attempt to re-sign pending free agent Brian Rolston and not Demitra.
