Canucks report: Roster
MOST VALUABLE PLAYER
Before a huge statistical slip down the stretch after the combination of 31 straight starts, a thinning defense and the birth of his first child all caught up to him, Roberto Luongo was actually on pace to better the numbers he posted while earning Vezina and Hart Trophy nominations

Canucks report: Notes, quotes
--New GM Mike Gillis said one of his first priorities was getting a handle on the status of star goaltender Roberto Luongo, whose late season slump coincided with having to rush home to Florida for the birth of his first child because his wife spent almost all of the season at their old home

Canucks report: Inside shots
The two biggest decisions for new Canucks general manager Mike Gillis involve whether or not to bring back his coach and his captain.

GM Mike Gillis is in the process of re-evaluating the Canucks, leaving coach Alain Vigneault's future with the team in doubt, says the Vancouver Sun. ... Markus Naslund, who is an unrestricted free agent this summer, may not return to Vancouver if Vigneault remains behind the bench, the Vancouver Province reports. (updated: 04/25/2008)

(POLL)

The Vancouver Canucks have a lot of work to do this off-season, the first thing is The Draft.  The Canucks got a decent draft pick in a really strong year.  I'm sure there's teams out there that made the playoffs that would like a higher end pick. (Detroit, Montreal, Philadelphia, Minnesota, etc.)  so what sh ...(more)

I think this is the year the Sedin's and Naslund have to produce just to secure their place in Vancouver. The push for the playoffs is among us and None of these so called Stars of our team has a goal in the last 10 games. Now everybody goes through slumps at times but is a coincidence that these three do it at the worst time of the y ...(more)

Trevor for sure is gone but at this time in his career that is just the side note. I mean it is a long way off his two impressive goals in game 7 of the 94' final. Naslund for sure is not going to be resigned or is he? Bieska is resigned for another three years but coming off the year he just had is there any one who feels confident with that. The Sedins are proving to be really decent second line ...(more)

Next year will be the final year of luongo's contract.  Should Vancouver look into tading him to another team for scoring?  Maybe they trade Luongo to Columbus for Leclaire, and scoring (a prospect like Stefean Legein) and a roster player that can score.
