Leipold sells lacrosse team, Swarm will stay in St. Paul

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) -Barely one month into his official ownership of the Minnesota Wild, Craig Leipold has made a deal, selling his lacrosse team.

John Arlotta, a longtime business associate and friend of Leipold, has signed a letter of intent to buy the Minnesota Swarm. The Wild's parent company has owned the lacrosse team since 2004.

Arlotta is a health care executive in Denver and an ardent supporter of Notre Dame's lacrosse teams. The takeover is pending National Lacrosse League approval.

The Swarm will continue to play at Xcel Energy Center, and will receive support and certain services from Minnesota Sports and Entertainment, the Wild's parent company.

Leipold completed his approximately $260 million purchase of the Wild and MSE from Bob Naegele Jr. last month.
