Coyotes able to re-sign Montoya: The Phoenix Coyotes re-signed goaltender Al Montoya, who was acquired in a February trade with the New York Rangers and spent all of last season in the minors. Phoenix also re-signed three other minor leaguers -- left wing David Spina, defenseman Drew Fata and right wing Derek Nesbitt. The length and financial terms of the contracts were not disclosed. (Updated 07/02/2008).

Fantasy Analysis
Montoya was 8-6-0 with a 2.59 goals-against average in 14 games last season for Phoenix's AHL affiliate in San Antonio. The former University of Michigan star was 16-8-3 with a 2.54 GAA with the Rangers' AHL affiliate in Hartford before the trade. There is a chance he spends some time with the parent club in 2008-09, but he won't become a full-time starter until Iyla Bryzgalov suffers an injury. Montoya remains just a long-term Fantasy keeper.
