Injuries yield more PT for Kreps: The South Florida Sun-Sentinel reports that Panthers C Stephen Weiss did not travel with the team Sunday to Pittsburgh and actual returned to Florida for a MRI on his injured left hand. The results were not immediately known, team spokesman Brian Goldman said. Weiss sat out the third period Saturday against the Hurricanes, but managed two assists. He is not expected to play Tuesday against the Penguins. It is possible that Kamil Kreps will move up from the third line, and center the second unit with David Booth and Nathan Horton. Fantasy Analysis
Kreps, who started the season in Rochester (AHL), has one goal and five assists in his last eight games. He had 12 points his previous 47 games. "With all the injuries, I've been getting a lot of opportunities," Kreps said. "I'm getting some power-play time, a lot of (penalty-killing) time. I just feel a little more confident with the puck. ... Obviously you want to play good defense first, but I feel I can get some points out there, too. Now is the time to prove it." Kreps has seen an increase in playing time with injuries to forwards Radek Dvorak, Jozef Stumpel, Richard Zednik and Rostislav Olesz. It's not yet known how long Weiss will be out, so consider Kreps a low-end Fantasy option. (Updated 02/18/2008).
