Alfredsson to miss first round: The Ottawa Citizen is reporting the Senators are expected to be shorthanded in their first-round playoff matchup against the Penguins. Head coach Bryan Murray is currently scrambling to patch up lines as Daniel Alfredsson (knee, neck, back) and Mike Fisher (knee) are not expected back until the Eastern Conference semifinals -- if they get that far -- at the earliest. "It's definitely going to be the first round that we're going to be short, and then hopefully we'll get lucky and one of them might be able to come back, but I don't know that," Murray said. Fantasy Analysis
Alfredsson went down during Thursday's game against the Maple Leafs via a Mark Bell hit and it looks as though it rattled his cage enough to keep him sidelined for some time. The Senators will have a tough time matching up with the Penguins without one of their star players. Alfredsson missed 12 games in 2007-08 due to injury, but still posted 89 points (40 goals) in 70 games. He has totaled 70-plus points for seven straight seasons. When healthy, Alfredsson is on one of the best lines in the NHL with with Dany Heatley and Jason Spezza. The trio is expected back next season in Ottawa and that makes Alfredsson a top Fantasy forward come Draft Day 2008. (Updated 04/07/2008).
