--The only two offensive players drafted by the Giants last month were both injured in the rookie minicamp. WR Mario Manningham suffered a hip flexor strain and Woodson a strained quad. "No, it doesn't mean I can go home," quipped offensive coordinator Kevin Gilbride.

--Terrell Thomas, the CB drafted in the second round out of Southern California, spent three seasons covering Giants' WR Steve Smith (second round last year) in practices. Asked how he did, Thomas said: "It went back and forth, obviously. He is a great receiver, probably one of the best I have faced. I liked going up against him."

--Head coach Tom Coughlin had an unexpected morning visitor last week, DE Michael Strahan, who has yet to announce whether he will return for a 15th season or retire. "He said that he hasn't made up his mind yet," the coach related, "because whatever decision he makes he will not change his mind, so he is waiting until he is sure."

--If the Giants realize some satisfaction from their second-round draft pick of 2006, WR Sinorice Moss (who has been intensely unsatisfactory so far) they will miraculously have a surfeit of WR talent, starting with Plaxico Burress and Amani Toomer, then adding Steve Smith, Domenik Hixon, Manningham, Michael Jennings and Super Bowl hero David Tyree.
