Jackson also has groin pull: Rams RB Steven Jackson, who twisted an ankle two weeks ago, also is nursing a slight groin pull, reports the St. Louis Post-Dispatch in Friday's edition. Last year, Jackson missed four games with a groin pull. (Updated 06/06/2008).
Injury Report
Ankle - Probable for the start of training camp (Updated - 5/27/08)
Fantasy Analysis
This is not encouraging news for Jackson, who has the chance to have a monster year in 2008, a contract year. Keep an eye on what happens for Jackson and hope his ankle, and more important his groin, are OK. When healthy, Jackson is a No. 1 Fantasy RB worth taking with the No. 2 overall pick in all leagues. (Updated 06/06/2008).
RB Steven Jackson almost sounds as though he realizes a new contract won't happen before the start of the season. In a recent interview with Yahoo!'s Michael Silver, Jackson talked about the importance of the upcoming season for the entire organization, including coach Scott Linehan. "It's a one-year bid for everybody," Jackson said. "It could be Scott's last year, and my last year, and even the franchise is in jeopardy -- the team could get sold and leave St. Louis. There's a lot riding on this year, and we all know that. Just as much as the Rams need me, I need them." Then, most recently, Jackson talked again about the situation while in Oregon helping out at Browns quarterback Derek Anderson's youth camp. Asked about the prospect of entering the final year of his contract, Jackson told the Portland Tribune, "A contract year is big for anyone, but especially for the last year of a rookie deal. I'm looking to have a great year and lengthen my career with St. Louis. Hopefully, I'll retire as a Ram. "But it all comes down to performance, and then negotiations. I think it will happen. The Rams have been good to me. I don't see any reason why I wouldn't be there (next year)." 07/12/2008

CBSSports.com Fantasy writers Jamey Eisenberg and Dave Richard draft one-on-one to settle the score on the "best player available" debates between over 200 NFL players and DSTs.
Who is on the verge of getting paid after the 2008 season? Dave Richard lists the players in a contract year and notes why they're worth targeting in drafts this summer.
Our Dave Richard explains some solid running back draft strategies for Fantasy owners to consider in 2008, and adds why there are so many good rushers out there for people to consider on Draft Day.
Sure, drafting who scores the touchdowns and racks up the most yardage goes a long way to winning a Fantasy title, but finding the guys who are the focal points of their offense is vital. Jamey Eisenberg breaks down all of the red zone and target data from the last three seasons.
