Barber signs extension: The Dallas Cowboys signed RB Marion Barber to a long-term extension Tuesday, just in time to beat a deadline that would've changed how the money is spread over the salary cap. But it wasn't cheap. Barber received a $45 million, seven-year contract that includes $16 million in guaranteed bonuses. It's worth $21 million over the first three years, all of which puts him in the salary range of LaDainian Tomlinson, Edgerrin James and Larry Johnson - heady stuff for a guy whose only career start came in his last game. "He kept repeating the numbers over and over," agent Drew Rosenhaus said. "He sat there at least an extra 20 minutes after we got the deal done in a state of shock." (Updated 05/20/2008).

Fantasy Analysis
Barber has the chance to be an elite Fantasy option in 2008 now that he'll be the starter. The fact that he's being paid like a stud is a good sign. Consider Barber a low-end No. 1/high-end No. 2 Fantasy RB in 2008 and worthy of a pick at the end of the first round or early in the second round. (Updated 05/20/2008).
