Archie: Peyton doing 'fine': Colts QB Peyton Manning is home and on the mend after undergoing surgery Monday to remove an infected bursa sac in his left knee, reports the Indianapolis Star. "I think he's doing fine, really," Archie Manning, Peyton's father, said Wednesday. "Peyton will deal with it. He'll rehab and go at it 100 percent. I know Peyton and he'll make the best of his days and try to contribute." Manning has started 160 consecutive regular-season games -- the longest active streak in the NFL by a quarterback, unless Brett Favre returns -- and missed only one play because of injury during his 10-year career. The Colts said Manning's rehabilitation could take six weeks, which would keep him out of the majority of training camp and much, if not all, of the five-game preseason schedule. But team president Bill Polian has said he expects the two-time NFL MVP to be ready when the Colts open the regular season Sept. 7 against the Bears. (Updated 07/17/2008).
Injury Report
Knee - Probable for the start of training camp (Updated - 7/15/08)
Fantasy Analysis
Manning might not be the No. 1 player at his position, with Tom Brady taking that role, but he should be the No. 2 option at QB and someone drafted in the first two rounds. Don't worry much about the knee injury since it sounds like Manning will be ready to start the season. (Updated 07/17/2008).
QB Peyton Manning recently underwent surgery to repair what has been described as an infected bursa sac in his left knee, Colts team president Bill Polian is telling fans not to worry. Manning, who has started 160 consecutive NFL games (which ranks him behind former Green Bay Packers signal caller Brett Favre), is planning to be ready for Indianapolis' regular-season opener against the Chicago Bears on Sept. 7 at Lucas Oil Stadium. "That's our expectation," Polian said. "Everything went well and the doctors are very confident that everything will go well." According to team officials, Manning had been getting treated for the injury for several months. The procedure was performed by Indianapolis orthopedic surgeon Dr. Tom Klootwyk. "Peyton had been receiving conservative treatment for an inflamed bursa sac in consultation with the club's medical staff since February 2008," Polian said. "This course of treatment was productive until Peyton experienced increased pain and early signs of infection." 07/17/2008

Advice
Colts president Bill Polian announced the procedure, described as routine, on Monday night. Polian said the team's medical staff expects Manning to have ``a full and complete return to action'' in four to six weeks. Colts training camp begins July 25.
