Muhammad starting, Hackett at No. 3: According to the Carolina Growl, Panthers WR Muhsin Muhammad ran with the starters during minicamp while D.J. Hackett was the No. 3 receiver. Dwayne Jarrett and Ryne Robinson continue to battle for the No. 4 spot, followed by Jason Carter. Hackett, a free agent pickup from Seattle, said he's picking up as much in the way of tips from veteran receivers Steve Smith and Muhammad as he is the coaching staff at this point. "Each one of them, they know the little things," Hackett said. "You don't go to the coach every time because he's worrying about a lot of other things. The guys who are already here, you can learn a lot from them." (Updated 05/05/2008).

Fantasy Analysis
Hackett has more Fantasy potential because of his upside. Muhammad is an aging veteran. Keep an eye on what develops during training camp, but both players will likely steal catches from each other. Both are late-round Fantasy options at wide receiver coming into the year. (Updated 05/05/2008).
WR Muhsin Muhammad understands part of his role is that of tutor -- specifically to Dwayne Jarrett, a second-round pick in 2007 who struggled as a rookie. But Muhammad said his role is more than that. "And I'm not just out here to teach people," Muhammad said "I come out here and make plays myself and I think I still play this game at a high level. As long as I come out here and school 25 and 26-year-olds all day long I will be out here on the field." 07/17/2008
