Bucs contemplating Favre trade: The St. Petersburg Times reports that the Buccaneers have had internal discussions about acquiring QB Brett Favre from Green Bay. Current Buccaneers QB Chris Simms said that he was quizzed about Favre by GM Bruce Allen. "He asked me questions about Brett Favre," Simms said. "He asked if I felt Brett would be able to come back and be good here if he didn't have a lot of reps in training camp. I said I thought he would but there would have to be some compromise with coach (Jon) Gruden. He'll just want the play called and to drop back and throw it in there. But it's something we talked about." Allen did not comment on Favre when asked by the paper. (Updated 07/23/2008).

Fantasy Analysis
Meanwhile, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell has told the Packers to get moving on a decision on Favre, and added that although Favre has yet to ask for his reinstatement, he would be willing to help the future Hall of Famer return to the league. The Packers have reportedly been in talks with several teams about Favre, who wants to play again but might balk at joining a new club. In Tampa Bay, Favre would be running a version of the West-Coast offense and be a nice upgrade from Jeff Garcia. He'd be a low-end No. 1/top-end No. 2 Fantasy QB if he were to play in Tampa Bay. In the interim, taking Favre with a late-round pick is a low-risk, high-reward proposition. We'll bring you the latest when we get it. (Updated 07/23/2008).
QB Brett Favre's future remains uncertain as the Packers explore trade opportunities. At a shareholder's meeting Thursday, CEO Mark Murphy said the team wants "to be fair to Brett, but we also must act in the best interest of the Packers." GM Ted Thompson said the team won't release Favre, as the quarterback has requested. Commishioner Roger Goodell will reinstate Favre should he petition to be put back on the active list. Thompson said again Thursday that if Favre returned to the Packers, it would "be in a different role." 07/25/2008

Advice
ESPN.com first reported Goodell's interest in the Favre predicament, indicating that Goodell encouraged Packers general manager Ted Thompson to survey teams around the league to try to find a trade partner in hopes of resolving it quickly. Tampa Bay is emerging as perhaps the most likely destination for Favre, although it is unclear whether Favre would be willing to play for the Buccaneers.

Even in retirement, Brett Favre is still looking for big game. The Green Bay Packers icon apparently spent the first days of the rest of his life hunting wild boar.
Aaron Rodgers has a message for Green Bay Packers fans. 'I'm not Brett Favre,'
he said Saturday. 'And if they're wanting me to be the next Brett Favre, I'm not
going to be him. I'm Aaron Rodgers. That's who I am.'
Many forget now, but early in his career Brett Favre had more than his share of flaws. Through the years of gun-slinging and record-breaking, we've seen Favre grow up before our eyes, Pete Prisco says.
Brett Favre's retirement lore is becoming almost as popular as his on-the-field heroics. On Thursday, the Packers' official website briefly reported he was retiring, but the page under the breaking news section was live for only a few minutes.
