Overview
Pittman is an underrated wideout who played in Limas Sweed's shadow at Texas, but he is an intriguing prospect in his own right. While Pittman lacks elite speed, his quick feet and subtle upper body fakes make him an effective route-runner capable of gaining consistent separation. A three-year starter, Pittman leaves Texas as an accomplished big-play threat, having posted 24 plays of 20 yards or more over his career despite less than spectacular straight-line speed.
Analysis
Positives: Lean, athletic build Good initial quickness off the snap to avoid the jam Good burst in and out of his breaks, and effectively uses head and shoulder fakes to generate separation from defenders Soft, reliable hands Has the wiggle to make defenders miss in the open field and can generate some yards after the catch.
Negatives: Lacks the straight-line speed scouts are looking for, and many of his big plays are a result of the Texas offense and defenders being forced to focus on other players Good acceleration, but tops out quickly and can be caught from behind Competitive, but has only marginal timing on his leaps and can be out-fought for the ball.
