Overview

Playing behind three future first-round picks in Keith Rivers, Rey Maualuga and Brian Cushing, Williams didn't have much of an opportunity to get on the field while with the Trojans, starting only four games as a senior. Blessed with good size, physicality and the versatility to play any of the three linebacker positions as well as fullback, some team could get a late-round steal with Williams.

Analysis

Positives: Good size for the position with a strong, athletic build. … Good instincts despite his relative lack of experience. … Reads the action quickly and puts himself in position to make the stop. … Physical at the point of attack and uses his hands well to disengage from defenders. … Versatile athlete who has experience at all three linebacker positions, as well as fullback. … Earned Honorable Mention Pac-10 honors as a senior despite starting only four games. … Helped himself with a strong performance at the East-West Shrine Game.

Negatives: Started just 14 total games at USC. … Versatile athlete who flashes ability as a utility linebacker and fullback, but may lack the athleticism to ever be more than "just a guy" at any of them. … Only marginal speed.

High School

He was named a 2002 Parade All-American, SuperPrep All-American, Prep Star All-American, Tom Lemming All-American, SuperPrep All-Farwest, Prep Star All-West, Tom Lemming All-West, Long Beach Press-Telegram Best in the West first team, Tacoma News Tribune Western 100, Orange County Register Fab 15 second team, Cal-Hi Sports All-State first team and Sacramento Bee All-Sacramento first team selection as a senior fullback and linebacker at Vacaville (Calif.) High.

He had 125 tackles, with 12 sacks, plus 2 interceptions, 6 forced fumbles and 4 fumble recoveries in 2002. As a junior in 2001, he posted 85 tackles, with 8 sacks, plus 3 interceptions, 4 forced fumbles and 3 fumble recoveries on defense, and had 378 rushing yards with 4 TDs (and 1 receiving TD) on offense. He played safety as a sophomore in 2000. He also played baseball (hitting .430) at Vacaville.
