Overview
A meager passing attack by the Hurricanes belied Jenkins' resiliency and toughness in 2008. Possessing the strong build preferred by NFL scouts, Jenkins is a physical receiver who proved willing to go over the middle for the tough, clutch reception. He may lack the upside of former great Hurricane wideouts, but Jenkins' quickness and versatility as a return specialist made him Miami's MVP in 2008 and a late-round consideration for NFL scouts.
Analysis
Positives: Thick, well-proportioned build to handle the rigors of NFL defensive backs Good initial quickness off the snap to avoid the jam at the line of scrimmage Developed into a much more reliable receiver in 2008 after struggling with drops throughout much of his career Willing to go over the middle and extend to make the tough grab Refused to give up when many of his teammates seemed to quit last year Experienced punt and kickoff returner.
Negatives: Has good quickness, but relied on his athleticism at the collegiate level and is only a marginal overall route-runner Allows too many passes to get into his chest, resulting in some ugly drops throughout his career Despite his thick build and quickness, Jenkins lacks the strength and agility to shake free in the open field.
