Positives: Has a thick frame with broad shoulders, strong, thick legs, wide hips and good arm length
Plays with adequate balance at the line of scrimmage, but bends at the waist too much to generate good quickness on the move
Avid performer in the weight room (but needs to translate that strength to the football field)
Good battler who shows urgency and works hard to sustain and finish
Best when widening holes at the line of scrimmage than he is blocking in the second level
Needs to show more aggression and power making contact, but will use his size adequately to gain a stalemate at the point of attack
Gets into run blocks quicker than he sets up in pass protection, but has just adequate quickness to gain advantage
Lacks a consistent surge and explosion, but somehow manages to stall the bull rusher
When he extends his arms properly, he covers the opponent up on drive blocks (more of a one-shot blocker, but uses his body well to push and shove)
When he keeps his pads down (waist bending prevents him from doing this often), he gets decent movement on drive blocks
Falls behind blocks at the point of attack and lacks good angle concept working into the second level, but has the reach to cover up and when he dies use it
Shows the punch to shock and jolt but must become more consistent generating power behind his hands
Could us his lower-body strength better and sink his hips, but is decent in his pass protection setup
Showed later in the 2007 season that he is getting an adequate feel for using his hands to grab for control and get away with it (was not flagged at all in 2007)
When he gets good position with his hands, he is capable of sustaining and walling off
Best when operating in closed quarters, where he seems to be much quicker reacting to movement and adjusting to counter moves.
Negatives: Lacks explosion coming off the snap
Has very good weight-room strength, but he needs to show better hand technique (does not extend properly on reach blocks) and be more forceful with his punch in attempts to shock and jolt the defender
Has had academic issues and needs more than a few reps to retain plays
Needs to become more accountable on and off the field
Not a good practice player and needs to be monitored (does what is asked, not much more in practice -- does like the weight room)
For all of his size and strength, he plays with more of a finesse style than that of a mauler
Slow at times to get out of his stance and in position to make the block and is best served on the right side of the line, as he does struggle moving laterally, showing a slow kick slide when isolated with speedy edge rushers
Has poor hip snap and bends at the waist too often, struggling when he has to redirect
Will probably have to shift inside to guard, as he lacks the change-of-direction skills or foot speed to be alone on the corner
Battles too high and this negates his weight-room strength
Tends to get his hands outside his frame, causing him to slowly recoil vs. counter moves
More of a catcher than a blocker who will attack his opponent
His lack of leg drive and hip roll prevent him from getting leverage on run blocks (can stalemate, but does not generate consistent movement)
Looked like more as a guard prospect, but he is a marginal trap blocker who fails to keep his feet under him on the move and has a poor feel for taking angles
Must shoot his hands more rather than catch and let defenders get into his body
Has smaller than ideal hands (8 7/8) and that causes him some problems when trying to grab and jerk down the defensive lineman.
Compares To: CHRIS CHESTER-Baltimore
Clark has excellent weight-room strength, but that strength doesn't translate to the football field. He struggles to recognize coverage and is a liability at tackle due to his inability to slide and mirror vs. speedy edge rushers, but lacks the trap-blocking skills you look for in an offensive guard. He needs to become more of a mauler. His hand usage is adequate and seems to disappear in pressure situations. Based on brute strength, he is an interesting late-round project, but must become more accountable and improve his work ethic.
