The Chiefs have not just played like a Super Bowl contender, they are a Super Bowl contender. Tonight Arrowhead Stadium will be rocking! They have great fans who are extremely loud, which will extrapolate into a 4 1/2 point homefield advantage. This is the NFL and it seems so many average teams play one good game one bad game. The Redskins are one of those teams. Washington played great last week at home versus Oakland. They should have a little bit of a letdown and are 10% weaker on the road. The Chiefs took notice of how the Skins dismantled one of their rivals, which should've given them extra focus this week preparing.
The Chiefs are the last unbeaten team, and I expect them to stay that way Monday night and also cover to make them 4-0 ATS. KC is averaging almost 400 ypg and have done so in a diverse manner, which includes Alex Smith actually throwing the ball downfield. I expect Washington to have some trouble keeping up in one of the toughest stadiums to play at in the NFL. For whatever its worth, KC has won and covered the last six meetings dating back to 1992.
Tough to get a read on the Redskins because of how inconsistent they’ve been from week-to-week. What has been consistent is Kareem Hunt and the Chiefs offense. Defensively, their secondary won’t miss many opportunities to take the ball away from the giving Kirk Cousins. Lay the points.
The dynamic duo of Kareem Hunt and Tyreek Hill have turned the Chiefs into a threat to score on any snap from any spot on the field. They have combined for four touchdowns of between 30 and 75 yards. The Chiefs have drawn fairly high totals all season — 46.5 once, 47.5 twice — partly because their opponents are offensively robust. Washington is, too, but K.C. is mostly responsible for a total this week that is tickling 50. Its offense is ranked third for yards per game, with a substantial edge over all others in yards per play. The Redskins can claim some responsibility for the total as the eighth-ranked squad in both categories. Trend-spotters will be struck by the Chiefs’ 4-1 record on Overs in the past five games and Washington’s six straight on the road. Alas, those numbers have served to push this total a tad too high. Three weeks into the schedule, the Skins and their foes have yet to exceed 47 in a game and K.C. followed its opener against the Patriots with games of 47 and 40. Need a trend to support the Under? Here is one: On Mondays, the teams have lingered below the total in a combined 10 of the last 13 soirees.
