--The NBA filed for trademark rights to six possible nicknames for the Oklahoma City franchise: Barons, Bison, Energy, Marshalls, Thunder and Wind.

--Kevin Durant could be an alternate for the USA team headed to the Olympics in Beijing next month. The team's current alternate, Tyson Chandler, suffered a toe injury, putting his spot in jeopardy.

Team USA coach Mike Krzyzewski suggested that Durant, who is practicing against Team USA this week as part of the U.S. Select Team, could supplant Chandler as the No. 1 alternate.

"What we could do is have Durant be a perimeter player, and LeBron be a big. The way we're playing, LeBron is a big," Krzyzewski said.

--Russell Westbrook joined teammates Durant and Jeff Green as part of the USA Basketball Select team. Westbrook, the fourth overall pick in the last month's NBA draft, joined the rest of the select team for the final day of training camp against the U.S Senior National Team, which is preparing for the Olympic Games in Beijing. The select team competes against the U.S. team in practice session. Oklahoma City coach P.J. Carlesimo heads the select team.

--Oklahoma City agreed to purchase the Performance Sports Center in north Oklahoma City to serve as its temporary practice facility for next season, and can be extended past next season to accommodate the team until it moves into its permanent training facility. Under the agreement, the team will have full control of the Performance Sports Center, and no other activities will take place at the facility. The team's chairman Clay Bennett, "We were quite impressed with what Performance Sports Center was able to offer for our temporary needs," Presti told The Oklahoman. "The NBA-size court and weight and training facilities are efficient for us in the interim. It's an excellent location, and we feel our players, coaches and staff will fit in well there. The Oklahoma City area offered several good facilities, but we decided this best met our needs." Team officials said the facility will need upgrades to the locker room and training facilities, along with office and meeting room space to meet NBA standards. The team plans to move into the facility in late September.

QUOTE TO NOTE
"Right now, our goal is the transition of the team, making the move as comfortable as possible for the players, coaches and staff. There are a lot of parallel tracks, but our main focus right now is getting everyone who's coming here set up, because the season is upon us very quickly." -- Oklahoma City team spokesman Dan Mahoney, on the team's transition to Oklahoma City.
