If the Lakers can't control Utah point guard Deron Williams a little better, they'll probably be facing a Game 7 Monday night at Staples Center. Williams will look to stay hot Friday night in Game 6 in Utah with the Jazz on the brink of elimination.

Williams had 27 points and 10 assists in Game 5 against Derek Fisher and Jordan Farmar even though the Lakers were determined to keep Williams out of the lane. One thing Williams will hope to shore up: He had four turnovers. Another thing: Williams will certainly be trying to make teammate Carlos Boozer (6-for-16 field-goal shooting in Game 5) more efficient.

"We missed some shots that we normally make," Williams said of Game 5. Williams also took pride in Utah committing just four second-half turnovers after the Jazz had 15 in the first half.

LAKERS 111, JAZZ 104: The Lakers had to break from tradition and win without much Kobe Bryant scoring, but they did win that way -- taking Game 5 of their second-round series with the Utah Jazz on Wednesday night at Staples Center to take the series lead. Bryant still had 26 points and seven assists despite his sore back.

But there were plenty of big buckets by Bryant's teammates in the fourth quarter, none bigger than Pau Gasol's follow-up dunk of Sasha Vujacic's 3-point miss with 20.5 seconds left. Gasol's basket gave the Lakers a 107-102 lead, and he finished with 21 points, eight assists and four blocks.

Bryant had three fourth-quarter points, all on free throws in the late going. Lamar Odom had seven of his 22 points in the fourth period. Utah shot just 8 for 24 (33.3 percent) in the fourth quarter.

Ok guys.  If we ask a Laker player or coach who they want to face, in the winner of the game 7 between the Hornets or the Spurs, they are going to say something diplomatic about both teams being great and looking forward to a challange.

Why? Because they don' ...(more)

It's a couple hours before tip-off of game #4 between the Utah Jazz and Our Lakers.

Well, Games 1 and 2 ... the Lakers had their way on their home court and came away with the wins.

Game 3 ... The Jazz held serve in the 1st game on their home court

Hey Laker fans-  Congrats on the series.  As much as I hated watching the Jazz lose, I have to say that you earned it.  There will be a lot of Jazz fans out there griping about the refs and such, but that was just tough basketball and you came out on top.

Good luck against the ...(more)

Does anyone know why Lamar Odom always has his jersey un-tucked??

I think every NBA player tucks there jersey in but I always see Odoms only tucked in in one tiny spot.

It doesn't bother me or anything I just wanted to see what you guys know...

I'm watching Game 6 of SA/NO and the ESPN ticker said that John Ireland of KCAL 9 is reporting that Rambis is a "lead candidate" for the Phoenix job. Great for him!! Rambis is such a class guy and I hope he gets an opportunity as a head coach. As weird as it would be I would instantly become a semi-Sun fan cause I have appreciated Rambis ever since he played for those great teams back in ...(more)

This was a great win for this Laker team - a real test of character and fortitude.  In spite of the Jazz' furious comeback (c'mon guys, you knew it was coming...), we led this game wire-to-wire, and by a double digit margin for about 40 of the 48 minutes in this game.  Everybody wearing a Laker uniform ...(more)

The Jazz have evened the series at 2-2 and the Lakers will be coming home trying to hold their home court advantage. Although Kobe Bryant was injured and ineffective during the overtime period, they will look to ...(more)

I find it quite comical how big of crybabies some guys can be.  I think my vote for the biggest crybaby on here has got to be Angels07.

Take a look at these warnings he has given out.

Jazz have best home record in NBA and are likely to win Game 6. Perhaps the Lakers would be better off to rest Kobe, take their lumps in Game 6 and have a strong, rested Kobe for Game 7.

Please wiegh in.

The Jazz-Lakers series has been a joke.  The reason - all you need is a star and the referees will call the game for the star's team. It happens with Spurs and Cavs all the time, and it's been atrocious for t ...(more)
